What I Know About Him:
I know he’s tall. 6′-4″ actually seems a little short – feels like he’s 6′-5″. Any tall Illini receiver and I immediately think “is he the next Walter Young?” (who, coincidentally, TOTALLY HAD POSSESSION OF THE BALL IN THE EAST CORNER OF THE SOUTH ENDZONE IN OVERTIME AGAINST OHIO STATE IN 2002.) By the way, remember when Walter Young played basketball and actually scored 2 points against Wisconsin? Yes, that actually happened.
Wait, we’re talking about Kenny Knight. Knight was another Keith Gilmore recruit out of the Detroit area. Picked us over Wisconsin, Indiana, and Minnesota. He redshirted last year, and will be looking to find the field immediately as a freshman, especially with four receivers leaving the program in the last month. Made a great catch on a Miles Osei deep ball in the spring game, too.
What I Expect From Him:
As I’ve said before, I have him slotted 6th. Millines-Lankford-Harris start. Whitlow-Rock battle for 4th/5th receiver. Knight is next.
But he could very easily be the 4th guy or even push Spencer Harris for playing time. Wide receiver is wide open in this new offense, and nobody is really locked in at any one position (besides Darius Millines, who I have slated for an AJ-Jenkins-junior-year breakout season).
So Rantoul will be very interesting for the receivers. Everybody, even the walkons, get a shot.
Really, Bob Asmussen? It’s not like alioneye is so obscure among UI fans that you can just blatantly rip off this concept without any acknowledgement whatsoever.

I stole the idea from him. The very first year, this series was titled “Dear Bob, You’re Doing It Wrong”. The blog was 3 months old, and I was desperate for attention.

I expanded to 88 players in 2010. 89 in 2011. And each of those years, I posted them 8 players at a time. And I counted down to the season, while Bob counted down to Camp Rantoul. Different enough that I could ease my conscience that I hadn’t totally copied what he was doing. Besides, dozens of blogs do countdowns.

And now we’re both counting down at the same time. Well, may the best Bob win.

I believe Lowell was complaining that Bob was stealing my idea, and I set him straight that I was the thief. I think that by Internet rules, this would be a reverse boomroasting on yourself.

Unless, however, you were boomroasting Lowell for complaining about Bob’s “blog”. Which would mean I just executed the rare double self-boomroasting.
