The 90 Illini #65: Tim Lukas June 28, 2012
Tim Lukas
Wide Receiver
6′-4″, 200 lbs.
Junior (walkon, 2 years to play 2)
Transfer from Carthage College
ALE Ranking last year: NR
What I Know About Him:
I’ll be honest. This was Jake Kumerow’s spot when I originally made the list. But I found out today that walkon wide receiver (who played a fair bit last year) Jake Kumerow is no longer with the team. Nor is WR Jordan Frysinger. And WR Anthony Williams was dismissed from the team last week. And freshman WR wasn’t admitted to school and is reportedly enrolling at Parkland.
Gee, maybe with 4 wide receivers leaving the team in three weeks, a spot might open up for a walkon to maybe get some minutes. HEY LOOK TIM LUKAS. I’ll be honest – I know very little about Tim Lukas. WAIT – I do know that he made a leaping catch in Rantoul last summer in the corner of the south endzone that had the media buzzing at the time and checking their rosters to see who he was. So there – there’s your report on Tim Lukas. Walkon wide receiver. Junior. With four WR leaving the team, might get to play.
What I Expect From Him:
Top three are likely Millines, Lankford, and Harris. With some Terry Hawthorne sprinkled in here and there. Fourth receiver right now is maybe Fritz Rock. 5th and 6th – let’s say redshirt freshmen Jeremy Whitlow and Kenny Knight. After that, with Williams and Robertson and Kumerow and Frysinger gone, it’s anyone’s game. So I’d look for walkons Peter Bonahoom and Tim Lukas to work their way into the rotation.
Looking back, when I originally made the list, Lukas just missed the cut at #92. Four wide receivers left since then – yeah, I’d say #65 sounds about right.
