I opined a few weeks ago that my summer wish was for QB recruit Chandler Whitmer to be selected for the Elite 11 Quarterback Camp.  It’s the equivalent of being able to brag about having a McDonald’s All American on the roster, only it’s football so it’s better.

Well, self, get ready to be happy.

That sound you just heard?  That was Illini fans from Galena to Vienna becoming familiar with Chandler Whitmer.  Next step for him is an extra star from Rivals and Scout.  After that, look for “will Scheelhaase switch to wideout because of Whitmer?” debates at a message board near you.

Elite 11 has quickly grown in stature over the last few years, mostly because of the 2005 Class.  Who was in the 2005 Elite 11 class you ask?
