Fiedorowicz To Illinois July 9, 2009

According to the Northwest Herald, CJ Fiedorowicz has committed to Illinois.

A big-time recruit with offers from Notre Dame, Ohio State, and the rest of the Big Ten, he is most likely an instant impact guy next year after Hoomanawanui leaves.

This is a guy who put out a list in the beginning of May, stating that his top-4 were Ohio State, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Notre Dame. But then Zook gets him on campus for our seven-on-seven passing tournament. And drives him around on his golf cart. And now he’s an Illini.

I will never, ever doubt Ron Zook in recruiting. Ever. If you can take a top-100-players-in-the-country kid from “no interest” to “verbal” in 2 months, you can do anything.

Bring in one of the top tight-ends in the country and infuriate Iowa fans in the same motion? Yes, please.
